          Michael Peter Balzary, better known as Flea, was born in Melbourne, Australia, on October 16, At the age of five, he moved to Rye, New York, with his family.

          His parents divorced shortly thereafter, and his mother remarried Walter Abdul Urban, a jazz musician. Urban introduced Flea to music but was also an abusive alcoholic.
